“Not far distant from the village of Ballygar, there was a castle.”
Not far distant from the village of Ballygar, there was a castle. It is now in ruins, only the two end walls are to be seen. This castle was owned by a man called Pergu who was a cruel land lord. He had one son. When Pergu died a man named Baggot got possession of it.
One morning about 30 years ago a young boy was going to serve mass to Ballygar. He noticed two men following him. He got very frightened and began to run. To his surprise he found the men got out ahead of him. He knew them. They were ghosts. They were crossing and recrossing his path but they did not come near him because he had medals and the blessed things on him. When he arrived in Ballygar he was exhausted and frightened. He told the story to the priest and the priest said it was Pergu and his son who followed him- Collector
