  1. The houses of long ago were built between two hills The gables were thatched, and the were built up against the hill. The roofs were made with pieces of sticks & rushes. In every house there was a little room called a cailleach. Usually the old people slept in it. It was made of stone and roofed with a big long flag. There was a big broad fire place and hobbs on eash side
