  1. Darby Ryan a famous rustic poet flourished in Ashgrove, Bansha, about eighty years ago. He was the author of the "Peeler and the Goat", The Bard of Ashgrove, Brave O'Brien of Bansha and many other famous songs. He had the power of versemaking from his birth and he was buried in the graveyard of Bansha which is about 4 miles from this place.
    He was a first cousin to Mrs Matt Whyte's father of Clashoquirke and Patrick Grogan's father of Ashgrove.
    Darby Ryan was one of the most famous poets in this locality.
