    A dead man used to appear to him in the middle of the day. He told all his neighbours about it, but his neighbours only laughed and jeered at him. One night he went to a dance in the village and the dead man appeared to him. He fainted off among the crowd. When his companions lifted him up, and when he recovered they asked him what was the matter with him and he said to look at the dead man who was there. They asked the boy to question him and after a while he consented to do so. He said to the dead man "What, in the name of God, brought you here" The dead man answered "I wanted to make it known to everyone here that one night I stole a back-load of hay from Tim Kelly, and when I was passing by James Rushe;s door I scattered a bit of it on the street so that the owner would think that it was James Rushe who stole it and I cannot get into heaven until I make it known to everybody that it was I who stole the hay and that is what had brought me to-night.
