  1. We are now preparing for the great festival of Christmas. This festival is looked forward to by young people and old people. Great preparations are made. First the house gets a general cleaning. The kitchen is white-washed, all the delph washed, and the tins are polished. Then the parlour gets a general cleaning, the furniture, and the ornaments are well dusted, and the parlour is thoroughly cleaned. The bedrooms are next cleaned.
Clean linen is put on the beds. Then the holly and ivy is put up on the walls and behind the pictures for decorations.
