    made bedside mats from straw. The mats were woven and were sometimes round and sometimes oval shaped.

  2. A man named Edward Nolan, Stonetown, Castlepollard used to make baskets of rods. He made a round basket shaped like a saucer. This was used at the dinner. The potatoes were emptied on to it _ the water went through and the potatoes remained. They were then put round the edge of the basket. The pan was put in the centre and the family sat around and ate their meal.
