  1. The Saint which is connected with this district is Saint Finian. The ruins of Saint Finian's church is not to be seen now.
There are not many stories told about Saint Finian in this district. One story told about Saint Finian. Saint Finian had a cow, and no matter how big a vessel would be, the cow would fill it with milk. One day a man said that he would bring a vessel and that the cow could not fill it. So he brought a strainer and the cow filled it with milk, and the milk did not flow out.
Saint Finian had a monastery at Clonard and there were about three thousand students from all parts of Europe, being taught by Saint Finian. The church at Clonard is called after Saint Finian. The twelve apostles of Ireland were taught at Clonard, and they afterwards established monasteries throughout Ireland. There is no special prayer offered up to Saint Finian. The feast of Saint Finian falls on the 12th of December. It is not observed as a holiday of obligation.
There is a holy well about a mile from Clonard called Saint Finian's well. There are a lot of people in this district called after Saint Finian. Saint Finian is buried in Clonard.
