In olden times unbaptised children used be buried in Forts or Raths, or beside the wall of the Churchyard. In Newhall Churchyard there is a flat stone outside the ruins, and every coffin must be laid down on this stone before being brought to its grave. The walls of the graveyard are very firm, and there are two stone holy water fonts inside in the old ruin.
