Martin Reidy of Crossderry and Richard Spellissy of Scariff were two famous faction fighters. One day there was a horse-fair in Spancihill and Spellissy and four other comrades of his challenged Martin Reidy to fight them. The Reidy man was very strong and he was engaged in a few faction fights before that. He took off his coat and vest Then he got a black-thorn stick and started beating Spellissy and his comrades single-handed. The Spellissy were having the victory at first, but after a few neighbours joined Reidy he was victorious. The result of that faction fight was fatal for Spellissy.
