    God guard the barque that bears thee far
    From Innisfail and me
    Thy sorrowing friends may soon forget
    But shrined in memory
    Thou still wilt gild my lonely path
    Along life's misty ways
    And must I ? Must I lose thee now?
    No more on thee to gaze.
    And when I see some gallant ship
    Depart from Erin's isle
    And bearing Keltic hearts away
    And beauty's witching smile
    I'll think upon those eyes that rained
    Their smiles of love on me
    And all but curse the friend that lured
    My Mary dear from me.
    God safely waft thy snowy sail
    And speed thee on I pray
    Thou mayest yet this wish forget
    When far from me away
    But no! that heart being good and true
    Will not behave unkind
    For thou wilt sometime think of him
    Now left so lone behind.
