  1. (continued from previous page)
But believe me, it is true, Dixon's plans will never do
For this story, we'll subdue of a Bold Soldier Boy.

Here is Dixon, they did cry, and for Maunsell, we will die
So in shame I had to fly, said the Bold Soldier Boy.
Newcastle to the West, where they put me to a test
Amongst all my friends and guests, said the Bold Soldier Boy.

When a priest cried out behind, we have Stockport in our mind
And Luther's breed combined, our clergy to destroy
Here's for Dixon, they did cry, and for Maunsell we will die
And its then I had to fly, said the Bold Soldier Boy.

What I said in Hull, falls in thunder on my skull,
And my hopes are getting dull, said the Bold Soldier Boy,
That the priests out of hand and the nuns with shame I'll brand
Till I drive them from the land, said the Bold Soldier Boy,
But Maunsell is so strong that he'll beat me five to one,
Just like my friend, Lord John, they have me like a toy,
Here's for Dixon they did cry and for Maunsell we will die,
So in shame I have to fly said the Bold Soldier Boy.

"Several of the gentry were buying votes for Dixon."
