  2. The Great Snow.
    More than a hundred years ago, there was a very heavy fall of snow, which was called "The Great Snow". The evening before the fall of snow, the sky was dark and gloomy and looked as if it held torrental.
    The snow began to fall in large flakes in the evening. The snow continued to fall all night, and all the following day and night.
    In the morning the whole country was covered in a white cloak of snow. The snow was in huge drifts up against houses, fences, and hallow ground.
