    Great Carbery's glories Dunmanway lies;
    With the Bandon flowing, its charms bestowing,
    Which in Mount Owen, does take a rise.

    Sir Richard Cox was one time owner of nearly the whole of Dunmanway. He was once Lord High Chancellor of Ireland and was called the "Father of Dunmanway" by every protestant in the town. A protestant himself, he came
