  1. All Hallows Eve or Snap-Apple-Night" as it is called in the district around Altar School, is held with great respect all over Ireland.
    There are parties, fun, and great exitement in nearly every house that night.
    There are lots of games and exitement for "Snap-Apple-night" such as :- snapping the apple out of the tub of water, burning nuts, melting lead, &c.
    Snapping the apple out of the tub of water is perhaps the most important, and is carried out a follows :-
    First of all the tub is put on the middle of the floor, and filled with water.
    Then an apple is put into it and the people come around it trying to snatch the apple out with their mouths, in turn.
