When my mother was a young girl there was a terrible storm here in Ireland. This storm caused great damage to stock, to houses, and to woods. It was very severe. The people were troubled very much about it.
This storm was in winter, in the month of February. It happened on the 2nd of this month in the year 1902. That is just 35 years ago. It lasted from eight o'clock in the night until seven o'clock in the morning.
Before the wind blew very strong big long white stripes were to be seen across the sky. Bu looking at the sky you would think that rain was approaching. It was severely cold during and before the storm.
During the storm many animals were hurt by falling trees. Many roofs of sheds and as a matter of fact the thatch off some dwelling houses was blown off. When my mother was going to school next morning she had to cross over twenty trees on two miles of the road.
