    in Schull and the smiths are Messrs. Patrick Driscoll and Con Mc Carthy. In the case of Mc Carthy, Schull, and Driscoll, Coosheen, their people have been smiths for generations back. Driscoll, the smith at Coosheen is an uncle to the Driscolls of Ballydehob, and all his brothers were smiths. His father and grandfather were also smiths. Driscoll, the smith in Schull is a cousin. There are three forges situated in the town of Ballydehob, and two in the town in the town of Schull. The forge in Dunbeacon and the forge in Coosheen are situated by the road-side. The forges are roofed with slate and timber. The doors are like any ordinary door. There is only one fireplace in every one of them. The bellows are heart shaped. There are two pieces of wood, one in the bottom and on the top about a foot
