    In the year 1872 on halloween there was a shot fined at Mr Langley....

    In the year 1872 on hallowe'en there was a shot fired at Mr. Langley Lefavy Landlord of Derryhanee at his residence at Derrycashel wounding him. This cost seven hundred pounds blood levy which had to be paid by the people of the adjoining townlands namely Derrycashel, Derryhanee, and Erra. An iron hut was then built at his residence and police placed in it to guard him. These police had to paid together with rack rent by the people of there townlands for two years.
