- There were different kinds of bread made in the District in olden times.Boxty cake
The biggest of the potatoes were peeled and grated, and then they were put into a boxty bag and squeezed. Then they were taken out and put into a small can and flour and milk and salt added. Then all were mixed together and baked on a pan or griddle.(continues on next page)- Collector
