    have been special bread made, such as yeast bread, for a big day or feast otherwise, there was no special bread made. A potato-cake was made of, flour, potatoes, water, breadsoda, and salt. Oat meal cakes were made of, oatmeal, water and salt, but no breadsoda. When the cakes would be baked, they would be fairly hard and flat.
