    considered very dear. The chief meat they had was bacon and in Lent they had salted herrings that were bought in the Robertstown market.
    Some of the better-off people used to buy a couple of barrels of salted herring for the Lenten period.
    The table when not in use was hung up by the wall.
    They used to have stirabout for supper and potatoes and buttermilk for dinner.
    A couple of times a week the people got vegetables. Before delf-ware the people had wooden mugs call "noggins".
