    frieze which was something like flannel. The women wore flannel gowns dyed black, navy, or brown. They also wore a cloak of a black or navy colour. This cloak was trimmed with fur. They usually wore a white trimmed cap and white wrap on their shoulders.
    In those times the people also made fine strong working shirts and sheets. These goods were made of flax which was grown in the district. After being made they were of a yellow colour and were very durable.
    The people wore no shoes except "lópeens" when they were drawing bearts of thatch from the hill sides.
