  1. Match-Making
    After small Christmas the people are match-making because this time of the year is called Shrove-tide. Match-making is a meeting of parties for the purpose of arranging a marriage. When the parents of a young woman wish to arrange a marriage for her they send word to the parents of a young man whom they consider suitable this is called an "account." When both parties meet they and their relatives and friends discuss all the arrangements, how much land and stock the young man has and how much fortune the girl is to get. When both parties agree they go to a lawyer to draw up the marriage agreements. After "seeing the land" and coming to a final agreement;
