    to be drowned the Mermaid always appears beforehand. If anybody should see her it is a sign of a drowning, or a person being taken away. They never take away an ugly person, always a good-looking person.
    When a person is going to be drowned the sky all darkens so that you can scarcely see anything. Then everybody knows there is a drowning. This was proved to be true in olden days.
