There is a cave on Ballydrehid hill which is situated half a mile from the village of Ballisodare it is believed that in that cave the gold crown of Connaught and many other valuable articles were hidden there by the irish the time the Danes were in Ireland. People from all over the world came to seek for this gold but they did not succeed as they could not break open the iron door which they used would not stay lit . People say that if the treasure is found someone will lose his life. About 30 years ago two young men J.J. Meehan and his brother were coming home from rambling
