  1. Sore eyes- There are certain people through the country who have cures for different diseases such as the sprain, jaundice, Erysipelas etc. My grand aunt Miss Briggs who lives in Cloncoose in our house has the cure for sore eyes and it is called eyewater. First she gathers the green leaves of woodbine and boils it in a saucepan, when it is boiled she puts a grain of alum also a teaspoon of sugar in it. Then she puts it in bottles. When the person is using it, he or she puts a drop of it in the eye for a couple of days then it will begin to mend.
