    and put rings in them after they being baked they are cut up in slices and the man or woman that would get the ring in them was sure to get married that year.
    St Brigids Eve.
    On Brigids Eve the young people used to go around dressed up with masks on their faces, dancing and singing “go leor” They used to have a little small doll like Brigid, when they would go into a house they had a rhyme to say, :-
    “Here is Brigid dressed in white give us a penny in honour of the night.”
    St Patrick’s Day.
    On Patrick’s Day the old people used to go to public houses “to drown the shamrock” and drink enough.
    May Day.
    On May day the old people used to say it was unlucky to give milk away, or to throw out ashes.
