    they buy most of it and collect the rest round the houses. The accept all alms in the line of vegetables and farm produce. They are not so poor as other classes. They have their own caravans, drawn by a number of fine strong horses. They travel in bands of about four or five large families called the MacDonaghs. Their usual time for coming is in Summer, or towards the beginning of Autumn, when all the crops are in full bloom. Other parties called tinkers call about the same time but it is very seldom we see the same faces. They are always different tribes and only stay for a few days, but while they do stay they give plenty of bother.
