  1. A Burning.
A dwelling house belonging to Mr. John Tease of Ballinafad was burned about four or five years ago. It was in the townland of Trenta. The house had been inhabited for some time but there was nobody living in it for a while before it was burned. It was one storey high and had a thatch roof. There was a barn attached to one end of the house and it had a zinc roof. The house was a good distance up from the road. Nobody knows how the fire was started. A sum of £100 was taken off the people living in the district, by the rates, for the burning of the house.
