- There are many old customs in Lucan. On Christmas Eve night the old people leave the door wide open so that our Lord may come in and rest in their homes. They leave a slice of pudding on the table for our Lord and a heap of timber beside the fire to keep Him warm. On All Souls Night they leave the window open for the poor souls to come and they leave a plate of Calcannon on the table.
Our family always abstain from flesh meat on St. Stephen's Day because they say it keeps away sickness.- Collector
