- The Local Fairs
1. The local fairs are held in Carrick-on-Suir, Dungarvan, Fiddown and Kilmacthomas.
2. They are held on the fair-green.
3. Buyers transacted business at cross-roads and farmers houses very often.
4. There were fairs held formally which have been discontinued.
5. There is no toll to be paid only when the fair- green is owned by a farmer.
6. Luck- money is given when the cattle are sold it is calculated at so much per head.
7. When an agreement is made the cattle are marked and the buyer givers the seller a docket.
8. The cattle are marked by cutting the hair with a scissors.
9. When the animal is old the halter is retained.
10. The special fairs of the year are the 24th June and the 25th October.
11. There are no special fairs for the sale of bonhams, sheep or horses,- Collector
