Poor Joe was perplexed for a moment, but all at once he inquired, if his interrupter could read Italian and as there was no reply he took a supposed letter from the Pope out of his pocket, and translated the following?
    "My dear Joe,
    I am sorry to hear you are not well. You have my permission to eat meat on every day of the year, and eat it ". This should
