  1. The people suffered in the time of the famine. One year the potatoes rooted. They suffered from starvation. There were twice as many people in Ireland as there are now. There were hundreds of people dying in the fields and by the road- sides. Some of the people ate raw turnips and weeds. When the potatoes rotted the people eat Indian Meal.
