  1. About sixteen years ago some huntsmen were out hunting on "Craig Hill" a mile from Killaloe on the Clare side overlooking the Shannon. After some time one of the dogs rooted up a coin on the side of the hill. When they examined the spot more closely they found a large quantity of coins. Some were silver bearing the date of King Philip. There were some bearing the date of the reign of King Louis, King James and Queen Elizabeth. There were a hundred coins in all, sold by weight for
