    First Turnips in Ireland

    When the Fennels lived in Rehill farm - a few miles west from Garryclogher National School they were said to have been the first people in Ireland to grow turnips.
    The people in the neighbourhood watched the growing crop with the greatest interest. They soon discovered that the turnips were good to eat. Three men went with sacks to steal some one night.
    They were not long in the field when a horse man rode in to it.
    Two of the men were going to run away but the third man, said "Hold on till I see is it the old fellow or young fellow that is there."
