    them and did all he could to waken them but they did not hear him, so he took each one out of bed and into the yard. When he had his work completed the house collapsed.
    Not long after this the Slatterys sailed for America. Walking John accompanied them to the ship. He was last seen in Queenstown and he was never seen or heard in Moorstown Castle after that.
    It is said that Walking John would have given the Slatterys the gold, or showed them them where it was but they were afraid to take it.
