  1. At the time of the Penal days in Nenagh, the Catholics were thrown out of their own homes and were replaced by Protestants. When the Protestants saw the Catholics starving they gave them soup if they would become Protestants and all those who left their religion were called soupers.

  2. The Nenagh Hospital was where the Christian Brother's School is today at the time of the famine in Nenagh.
    During the Famine a plague broke out in Nenagh and it was called "The Irish Collerra".
