  1. In Lough-na-Cear about fifty years ago there was a pike who lived so long that he got all covered over with hair and he grew a long whisker. Also in this lough there was a sea-horse, and one morning "Jemmy-the-Lough" went out to catch his horse and in mistake he put the halter on the sea horse which had strayed out of the lough. He found he was very small and let him go. The sea-horse dived into the lough and with such force that he landed on the other side of the world in New Zealand.
