  1. Come all ye foolish young men
    That have been led astray
    And listen to this dreadful tale
    Upon my dying day.
    It was by cursed temptation
    As you all may plainly see
    I am condemned with grief and shame
    To die on the gallow’s tree.
    My name is Patrick Power
    Near Wexford I was from
    I attain the age of twenty years
    I die in public scorn.
    I broke the laws of God and man
    For which I must now die
    My father’s bloody vengeance
    To heaven loud does cry.
    A young girl who lived near me
    I courted as you’ll hear
    I often robbed my father for
    To spend it on my dear.
    A good advice she gave me
    Though the bloody deed I done
    I thought own my father’s farm
    I been the eldest son
    On the fourteenth of October
    I watched him coming home
