  1. Very few people in the district knew or know how to make "wax."
    John Reilly Drumollard, or as he was called "John of the Forth," was the only man in this district who could make wax. He had always a great supply of balls of wax for everyone. He was a great shoemaker, so that many people went to him, and he wanted plenty of wax.
    To make wax a "grissit' was laid on the fire, About a pound of lard from the pig which he killed every year, was thrown into the "grisset." While the grease was melting he cut up a "black pitch," into powder, and threw it into the boiling grease.
