  1. Our local landlord is called Lord Farnham and that is why this district is called 'Farnham". His 'private' name is 'Maxwell'. He fought in the great war (1914-18) and in the same war two of his sons were killed. His heir is Commander Maxwell and he lives in England. The school which I attend is called Farnham school and this is so because Lord Farnham is the patron of it.
    The Farnham demesne itself is very large and the townland which I live in has 12 families, mostly consisting of tenants which are his help. There is a demesne wall around 365 acres forming a huge park and in this park stands a tree planted in commemoration of the marriage of the Prince of Wales, the present king's grandfather. In this park there are two tunnels which run for some miles up the country, there are also two forts. There is also a big resevoir
