  1. My home district is Ballykillageer. It is in the parish of Avoca and in the barony of Arklow.
    Houses families:
There are sixteen families in Ballykillageer and seventy five people. Dillon is the most common name. The houses are mostly slated but a few are thatched and tiled. Long ago the houses were very much more numerousthan they are now. The ruins of the houses are still to be seen but some of them were only little wooden huts here and there in the ditch.
    Fanners:
In each house in Ballykillageer there is a fanners. It is used to blow up the fire and to redden it. One who has a fan can burn anything when they give it a blow.
