  1. We churn with a dash. We churn three times a week in the winter and four times in the summer. We pull the dash up and down when we are churning. The top of the churn is 17 1/2 inches wide, and the bottom is 15 1/2 inches wide. The sides are round, they are not square. When we are churning we all churn in turn. When anyone comes in they always give a hand to churn. When we are taking up the butter we take it up with a wooden plater.

  2. There are a great deal of customs connected with churning. They say that if someone came in when the churning is going on he should take a hand to help. They say that if not you would be a longer time churning before butter would come. The people say if you were churning when they come in "I will take a turn at this to see will
