- In Donard village there are four roads, leading to historical places.
The "Mill-lane" leads to Dunlavin, where Captain Saunders got the United Irishmen (32) shot. The road got its name from an old mill nearby.
The "back-road" leads to the famous Glen Imaal, where Michael Dwyer hid from the Yeomen. It got its name because of its backwardness.
"Gallow's gate" road also leads to Glen Imall. It got its name because in olden times there was a gallows on the road, the trace of white can still be seen.
The "cow-hill" leads to Hollywood Glen, where robbers used "hold up" the people and rob them.- Collector
