    Rocky Valley in which lived people by the name of Gormleys. Mrs Gormley was an invalid and she had lived in this house since she was a child. Her son James lived with her. One night James came in very late and he was getting the supper ready and the chimney caught fire but he put it out quickly.
    In the middle of the night James smelt fire and when he got up he saw that the place was in flames. He carried his mother out and left her outside sitting on a chair. James tried to put out the flames but it was all in vain. The house was burned to the ground and not a thing was saved.
    Then my Grandmother Mrs Kelly sent up a trap to bring Mrs Gormley down to Kilmacanogue as she could not walk - she had a sore foot. Then my Grandmother allowed them to live in a house for some time until they got another house built.
