    about fifty years ago used to spin and weave and then knit the stockings for the people of the house for both men and women out of the wool they would make.
    They used to dye the wool with what ever colour they would like. Up to today the people thatch the houses and they also thatch the ricks of hay and make the ropes with what is called "course" a kind of rushes and some times they make them with straw. The people used to tan the leather & there was a fine tanyard in Wicklow a man by the name of Byrne owned it. There are two men whom I know that do wood work or fret. Nichlos Mulligan did fret work with two brackets. Another man by the name of Robert Pinkern Deerpark he made by fret work a square bracket with a glass in it and written on it is "No place like home" He made another
