  1. There is a crock of gold in a deep pool in the river Barrow. A swordfish guarding it. The O'Demseys left it there. It is said that a man by the name of Foster tried to get it. He was told that when he heard an army. He was not to look around. He looked around and the pot sunk. He never got the chance to get it again. And it is said that if you put a stick down you will feel the chest.
    NOTE: the pool is opposite lea castle which is situated on the bank of the R.Barrow about two miles due east of portarlington.
