  1. Marriages are fairly frequent in this district. Friday is considered an unlucky day for marriages. It is mostly on Wednesdays they are held.
    Long ago they used to go walking to the Church and Chapel.
    Their dowry was always counted.
    Long ago they used to have cabbage and bacon for the meal when they went home from the wedding.
    Straw boys always go to the house that night looking for money, they nearly always get some.
    There are always a lot of weddings before Shrove.
