  1. The wild birds commonly found in my district are:- robins, wrens, blackbirds, thrushes, crows, pigeons, magpies, gold-finches, chaffinches, skylarks, bog-larks, swallows, cuckoo, and woodcock.
    The swallows and the cuckoo migrate to warmer countries in late Autumn. When the swallows are about to leave this country they gather together on the house tops, or on sheds, for a fortnight or so. before doing so. Then they fly off in 'bunches', the older ones going first, and the younger ones soon afterwards.
