  1. The kind of bread that was used in olden times was oaten bread. It was baked on a griddle. The way it was made was with oaten meal wet with water. It had two lines cut through it. It had to be baked very thin. People long ago used to bake enough on Tuesday as would do for the week. There was a man in Knock who used to grind corn into meal with a quern for the people.
