  1. There is an old man in this parish who is a tailor whose name is Christy Smith, Marvelstown. He makes some of the local people’s clothes though he s eighty four years of age. In olden times he used to get all the tweed for his use from Kilkenny. He was as a very good tailor and he used to do a better trade long ago than now. He is also deaf and dumb. There used to be more tailors in this district but they are all dead now.
    Mrs Kearney of Staholmog is a dress-maker and she makes dresses, costumes, and coats. She is a good dress maker and the people like her make very well. Her daughter is very good at
